Welcome to another edition of The Internet in a Telegram, Nevoazul's newsletter on the good side of the web. To celebrate the launch of The Internet Index, our first digital and collaborative project, we've set aside some telegrams to write about websites that promote knowledge and empathy. These include Atlas of Emotions, Black Film Archive, Feral Atlas, Woman of Bauhaus and Thanks in Advance. A stellar array of links to a more diverse internet.
Atlas of Emotions
Our emotions unfold on a timeline. The timeline begins with a trigger that initiates an emotional experience and ultimately results in a response. Atlas of Emotions helps us be aware of our emotions with visual aesthetic strategies that help us respond in helpful, constructive ways.
Black Film Archive
The history of black cinema is vast, but not always accessible or presented in the right cultural context. Black Film Archive celebrates the richness and abundance of black culture on the big screen through a selection of films launched between 1915 and 1979.
Feral Atlas
Navigating through the Feral Atlas is an invitation to curiosity and a plea to discover the Anthropocene. Images of Argentine ants, marine plastic, reactive blueberries or grass, float across the screen without order, but with aesthetic appeal. To discover more about each of these beings, artefacts and elements one must jump from link to link, open digital drawers and read.
Women of Bauhaus
On the occasion of the Bauhaus centenary, the history of what was the first design school in the world was once again reviewed to remember and highlight the work of 10 Bauhaus women who, although often forgotten, left an unmistakable legacy in the world of design.
Thanks in Advance
The environmental impact of sending an email may be insignificant, but when we consider how many emails are sent in a year, we could be using as much energy as 40 light bulbs for an hour. The website Thanks in Advance looks at the environmental impact of exchanging emails and presents practical solutions for a more responsible use.
Which websites should we add to The Internet Index?
Our form is always open and the archive is growing. Send us the websites you'd like to see in TII and, as a thank you, we'll offer you a printed issue of Nevoazul 3.
These are some of the suggestions we have received recently:
Black Archives
The Nicest Place
Window Swap
Radio Garden
The Other Side of Truth
Low Tech Magazine
The A-Z of AI
The Depression Project
The Micropedia
